The initial games of the Eastern Conference 1st round were marginally more lopsided than their Western Conference counterparts.
GAME 1 - Ottawa comfortably outplays Buffalo in a 5-1 win [OTT - 1; BUF - 0]
The Sens roll to a comfortable 3-1 after two periods. Buffalo grabs one early in the third, but Ottawa scores 2 more for good measure to put the game out of reach.
GAME 2 - Toronto steals home ice with a dominant 4-1 road win in Tampa [TB - 0; TOR - 1]
Toronto takes a 2-0 lead just 3:12 into the game, and never relinquish it from there. They add a 3rd goal later in the first; Tampa gets one back 2:14 into the third, only to surrender the backbreaker just 3:10 later.
GAME 3 - New Jersey uses a dominant 3rd period to steal a 5-4 win on the other side of the Hudson [NYR - 0; NJ - 1]
The lead swaps hands three times before the Rangers take a 3-2 lead into the third; the Devils score three straight including an empty net before the Rangers pull back a consolation goal with 2 seconds remaining.
GAME 4 - Pittsburgh crushes the Habs 6-0 to hold serve [PIT - 1; MTL - 0]
The Pens pot 2 goals in each period despite only a single (unsuccessful) powerplay opportunity between the two teams. Meanwhile "noted fighter" Brendan Perlini and actual fighter Rodion Amirov combine for 15 minutes in the bin, dismantling Montreal's top 6 for almost an entire period.
