June 8, 2025 - Game 7 WCF

Welcome everyone to GAME 7 of the WCF. It's the SJS - trying to repeat a trip to the Cup Finals. And it's DET, the rebuilt Wangs, with the president's trophy, and an incredible reverse sweep last round. Who's got the right combination to head to the chance at Lord Stanley?

We first start in DET where Koivu's extra practise "was good enough to shake some players". DET hoping that's the rust off JVR's skates, or maybe not, and let him threaten with some rusty blades...

PERIOD 1
Talk about a slow start, NEITHER team scores in Period 1 and only Patty Kane gets a penalty and for DIVING no less.. No companion penalty to offset, which is odd. Shots were 14-2 for DET, so a very strong start, even if the game otherwise is anyone's.

PERIOD 2
A much closer and explosive second. DET's Kostitsyn gets 2 for elbowing and SJS's Musty gets 2 for roughing. Neither result in goals, but Reinhart opens scoring VERY early, but Lucic and Kane, the "trade deadline boys" roar back and it's 2-1. Still before midway it's Bill Eklund's 8th of the playoffs and we are all tied up going into the 3rd.

PERIOD 3
No penalties - shocker - as the refs put 'em away. Another strong showing for DET 13-5 in shots, but Askarov is hot. Unfortunately for SJ, Reinhart fro Kylington EARLY in the period is all she wrote, and the gloves and helmets go flying.

DET, in only its 4th playoff (or was it 5th Kevin - the home page is messed up on one...) they are off to the Stanley Cup final with their SECOND game 7 win in back to back rounds.

To Dan, we thank you for everything you do, and we hope you are ready to re-arrange your make up and unlock the trade board.

NOTES:
JVR did come back and played almost 21 minutes. 7 rating, but a +2.
Huge minutes by Wallinder, Kylington combo and their 9/8 ratings.
Askarov was great, 3GA in 32(!!) shots, 9 rating.
Stars were: Reinhart (speaking of tradeline boys), Bill Eklund, Bill Wallinder.
Lysell had his 4 pt goal and point streak snapped, but Lucic ended his 7 game drought.

Tonight, its OTT/TBL. Will it be BROTHER ON BROTHER, or .... not?
