Game 1 of the ECF starts gently, with just the lone Rare Powerplay Goal by McDavid midway through the 1st. Brent Gates breaks a 9-game goalless drought to tie it up early in the 2nd. Unfortunately, with a chance to take the lead on their own Rare Powerplay, the Bolts give up a shortie to Mark Scheifele, and just past the halfway mark, an EV goal to Anton Slepyshev (his 2nd in 3). Three more goals in just 3:30 - 3 in the third period give the home team a nearly symmetric 6-1 lead, and leave the East's Smith-led team down 1-0. OTT had the edge in shots and chances while Chet Pickard resumed his solid play and Carey Price, er, did not.

Fun fact, Geoff and I have each gone 0-3 and been outscored 15-6 in our three Game 1s these playoffs.
