Our first game of the evening sees the Senators come out the gates flying, scoring their first goal three minutes in and building a 3-0 lead by the halfway mark of the game. The Habs however refuse to go quietly into the night, fighting their way back and tying the game to force OT. Alas the comeback bid would fall short, as Shaw Matthias scores 1:26 into OT to take the series for Ottawa.

Game 2 starts out fairly even. Tampa takes a 1-0 lead into the first intermission before scoring again partway through the second. Philly responds however, scoring their first goal a couple of minutes later and then equalizing shortly before the second break. When the third period starts, Tampa's Phil Kessel decides he doesn't want the game to be interesting any longer, as he scores back to back goals 1:01 and 4:56 into the third to give Tampa a 4-2 lead; Luca Hischier would add a fifth goal just 1:18 later. Mikko Rantanen would pull one back late, but Tampa takes this one 5-3, keeping their playoff run alive.
