Reasoning:
As I said in the Hamhuis deal adding Scuderi gives me some time to develop my draft picks, while putting a respectable NHL team on the ice. To my eyes Scuderi is an improvement over Salmela or Oystrick for the time being. I also believe I've added enough useful pieces from this year's draft to warrant use on a "now" player.

I think there's still some players in the draft that can contribute in the future and Rob Scuderi are just not in Kings long term plan. Makes cap space.
