As for the goalies involved, I needed to do the swap to save some money on next year's renego. Varlamov is gonna cost a little less than Price, which is what I wanted, given the fact that I have some key players to re-sign.

As for Draisaitl (and the picks), I was ready to let him go to get 2 good NHL ready players.

I am getting rid of some average NHL ready forwards for a prospect with elite offensive potential. I also acquire some draft picks, including a 3rd in a draft that is supposed to be deep.
And I accquire better goalie as well. His contract is higher but I have the cap space.
