Hate to say this but......that is spoken like a true American.......

And where in the medal round is Team USA? Oh ya, not even damn close. They were already back at home watching todays gamesCommissioner (CBJ) wrote:Nice win by Canada today.

It's decent hockey, but people in Canada absolutely lose their shit after anything less than a gold medal, and are only happy when it has the parity of women's hockey.
I've lived in Canada for 25 years, I've seen enough to know that people lose their fucking minds over this tournament up there, though.

Re: Season Preparations
In Canada, hockey is in our blood. And if it isnt, then i dont think the person was raised here. Pretty much anything that can be done on the ice or snow is purely Canadian. From what i can see, the only reason some of these other nations are catching up with Canada is because they all come here to play our style game. And they get the true Canadian way of hockey in their blood and that makes then that much better.

Did you copy and paste that from somewhere? That exactly proves my point.

It's pretty popular in Europe too.....
I don't lose my shit over them not getting gold, disappointed yes but I love HOCKEY, I could care less who the fuck is playing. Final will be good, solid rivalry and I hope Finland can keep up with the Swedes. RUS/CAN for bronze should be good too.

Yeah Im disappointed they lost but definitely didn't care that much. It's just juniors, not the Olympics.
Canada played bad.
Yeah Adam! where the hell were the States? Didn't they lose to Canada?
I hope Finland wins, although that was a cheap move for the PS goal.

You're the one rooting for USA to lose like you have some kind of grudge against them, which is absolutely ridiculous. I'm only trolling you about Canada, as I don't care one way or another.Singin the BLUES wrote:.And where in the medal round is Team USA? Oh ya, not even damn close. The World Juniors is a fun tournament. Nothing more, nothing less.

I just caught that. My team was awful other than Malkin and Crosby. I'll let you chirp me for free like that when you actually make the playoffs for the FIRST time since the league started, you big DUST. Trading me Kadri for a goalie, thanksssssssssss.TorontoGM wrote:I understand why they took the players they did, and I'm a huge fan of teams who really focus on the handedness of the blueliners and even the forwards but some of those quotes in the article are a joke.
Burke says he should have drafted Jack Johnson over Bobby Ryan.......The same Jack Johnson who's been traded 3 times? and the first time was before he could even play a game for the Canes? The same fucken player you didn't select for this US team? Right.
USA finishes 5th
Also, Shero reminds me a lot our own Mr. Bern. Loud mouth fuck who was gifted a crazy good team.

Re: Season Preparations
Two questions, is there anyway to discuss WJC LE boosts? Also, can we please allow for U20 players in the NHL/AHL to play in the WJC?
I know it's extra work for either, but I really enjoy having draftee's in the WJC. I'm not sure if Ully or Rankin would play for Team Canada. I imagine they would, depending on how many players were released by GMs. You would be giving up development during the tournament, and maybe been risking regression. I would, just for the enjoyment factor, and others might to if LE boost was involved. Even +1 LE would be the coolest thing.
I understand it's extra work, and if it's no its cool. Appreciate everything everyone does.
edit: Any chance we can start trading 6 and 7 round draft picks? Would love to chance to stock up on more Rankin's.

Re: Season Preparations
I updated most of the new-style pages, including the pain in the ass of switching Winnipeg and Columbus. If anything is wrong (probably emails and join dates for new GMs), let me know. You can access them from the Home page, but not the links in the forums. I haven't figured out how to change the links in the header for the forums so they still point to the old pages.
The draft history page is also updated. I think some players need to have their draft teams switched from/to WPG/CBJ in the file. Also for the record, Derek Forbort should be American.

Re: Season Preparations
Thanks, Dan.
I'm going to update the file through tonight. Regular season games resume on Wednesday. Because of the Olympic break, our sim schedule is going to be very crowded the rest of the season. So take good care of your lines, if you're contending for a playoff spot. (Or if you're trying to tank your way to the first overall. Kidding. NO TANKING.)
A couple other things:
1. Per Adam's instructions, the GMs who managed the "lesser" hockey nations from the Olympics will get to choose one player from their Olympic roster to sign to their system. The GMs are:
San Jose -- Switzerland
NYR -- Austria
Boston -- Norway
Tampa Bay -- Latvia
Calgary -- Slovenia
After these GMs have chosen their player, the remaining unsigned players will be open for bidding via the regular UFA process. These five (ok, four really) GMs can PM their choice to me, no later than Wednesday evening at 9:30pm Eastern (the usual sim deadline). If you haven't picked anyone by then, you get no freebies.
2. Remember to pay attention to your minor league team's 26-player roster limit, and, more importantly, your maximum goalie starts for your pro team. I will try to keep the goalie start thread updated regularly, but it is still your job to not surpass the maximum allowed starts for your goalie.

Re: Season Preparations
Also wanted to say that some players in the real NHL that aren't in our file have now been added as UFAs. Nothing earth shaking here, but some might be worth a look:
D Torey Krug
D Chad Ruhwedel
D Dan DeKeyser
F Cory Conacher
F Jayson Megna
F J.T. Brown
F Ondrej Palat
D Connor Carrick
D Christopher Breen
G Antti Raanta
D Brenden Dillon
F Antoine Roussel
D Frank Corrado
F Kellan Lain
D Ryan Stanton
EDIT: Connor Carrick has been added to the incoming draft. He is NOT a ufa.
