Lightning draft review

The Tampa Bay Lightning only had 2 late draft picks this past summer, and the draft was held prior to the hiring of new general manager Geoff Smith. The results were as unspectacular as you???d expect.

141 OA - Mitchell Miller
Miller is a smaller defenceman with limited upside. He plays a steady, unspectacular defensive game, with very little offensive involvement. Miller will spend another season playing junior hockey in Sweden. While he is unlikely to develop into an EHEC regular, the Lightning are hoping he can develop into an AHL regular in the future.

144 OA - Yegor Sokolov
Sokolov is a hulking winger who developed later than many. Already 20, the Lightning drafted him hoping he???d be able to make the immediate jump to the AHL. New GM Geoff Smith however saw an opportunity, and traded Sokolov to Colorado as part of the deal to bring in rugged winger Dalton Smith, to fill a void left by departing free agents.
