I signed Markov to fill the #4/#5 spot on my defense last season. He's now my #7 defenseman, and at $2.5 million that's a bit too steep. I can bring up one of the guys from Hershey for a fraction of that cost, or just go with six defensemen on the roster, but this move essentially gets me under the new salary cap.
