Confirm. Gomez can play 3rd line which should bump Paajarvi-Svensson to the 2nd line wing position, nice to only absorb about half of his cap hit too. Thanks for the deal MTL.

I've been wanting Gomez out since the day I got here. Bernier is a decent hitter, and I'll take the 2nd in next year's draft. Kostitsyn will be promoted to the top line where he belongs.

I've got rid of 2 of the most horrid contracts I've ever seen (Cammallerri/Gomez) and only one left with Hamrlik.

Don't mean to but in, but our teams allowed to take on salary of former players in deals like this? It pretty much is like trading cash, which I don't think is allowed in the NHL under the current CBA. idc either way, if it could just be clarified because it be very useful in making deals.

I was gonna pose a question about that too. It doesn't say anything in the rulebooks about trading salaries (unless I couldn't find it), but I was under the impression we weren't allowed to do this.

The money thing was proposed to me by another gm as part of a previous trade, so I just assumed it was fair game. If not, I guess we'll have to rework...

I will discuss with my Committee members on this. But, if it is prohibited in the NHL, odds are, we won't allow it here. Just letting you know in case you want to start to re-work the deal.

If we don't allow it, apologies for not having the provision in our Rulebook already. It's definitely something we should have thought about.

If we aren't allowed to cover the salary as proposed in the original trade then Dallas would like to send Sami Salo (67) to Montreal for Shawn Belle (53) to balance out the salaries. Thanks.

Trading cash for players or agreeing to pay a portion of a player's remaining salary after trading him are forbidden in the new CBA in order to prevent wealthier teams from evading the restrictions of the cap.

Therefore, they will be here as well. I will add it to the Rulebook.
