Do I have to assign Joe Pavelski to LTIR or is it automatic?

It's automatic. How much LTIR room you get is determined by what your cap hit is for the first game after the injury. In your case, you get Pavelski's full salary.

I update this thread after every sim so you can check where you're at. This is the official thread, Dan just doesn't update quite as regularly as me but important to note there may be some small differences between our numbers.
