An award has been determined in the Martin St. Louis arbitration.

TB comps: Savard, Elias, Sullivan

Arbitrator comps: Briere, Sedin, Heatley; but acknowledging that the three most accurate are Savard, Elias, and Sedin.

The Steve Sullivan comp can be thrown out, IMO, in this case. Sullivan took a sweet hometown discount because of his myriad of health issues and that factors in much more to real life than the EHM sim world.

The other comps are fairly accurate and come in well over TB's proposed 5M per year, as well as over my arbitrator's 5.9M per year. St. Louis has good LE and CON to go along with 80+ SK and the three main offensive attributes. Age is about the only factor in play here. Unfortunately, he retired in the fastsim file, so I am unable to see what sort of decline he experienced as he got older. But, with our retirement policy, St. Louis will play all three years of his contract and do so without any decline from a retiring status.

In this case, I am going to side with my arbitrator and award Martin St. Louis the proposed 3 year contract at 5.75M per season. With LE at a premium in the file, and St. Louis's high CON, our retirement policy, and the fact that 5 of the 6 comps were above both proposed numbers (and looking at what I said earlier about Sullivan), I feel that this is a fair result for an 85 OF 80 CON player who should not decline much, if at all, during the duration of this contract.

I also feel that he is warranted a raise because of the success he has brought the Lightning and the high LE that will continue to benefit him.

Justin, you can accept/reject the 3 year, 5.75M per contract.

Scurko and MacMillan contracts offered.

No arbitration necessary for AHL guys Hilbert and Fedorov. Just the formula for the <70 guys.

Arbitration's really only for NHL guys or guys who go up and down regularly.

An award has been determined in the Jan Hejda arbitration case.

TB comps: Warrener (EHEC UFA), Boynton (EHEC UFA), Ward (EHEC UFA)
Arbitrator comps: Scuderi, White, Commodore

EHEC UFAs are not supposed to be used for arbitration proceedings, but it seems like that tends to be the road that teams are going. At some point, I'll have to soften my stance on that, but for now, because of the lack of rules in place regarding salary prior to this offseason, it's hard to use them for the purpose of arbitration.

Anyway, TB proposed 4 years at 1.6M, the maximum 20% decrease allowable. My arbitrator proposed 4 years at 3M per, citing that Hejda has comparable stats and attributes to his comparable players. He also said that he would be looking at 3.5M per if it were just a one-year deal, but for Hejda with a 4-year deal, 3M per provided financial security and a raise.

One thing about Commodore and Scuderi is that they are bad real life contracts, necessitated by a market that has to overpay to sign guys and the other was based off a strong Stanley Cup run.

In any event, there's no evidence to support that Jan Hejda deserves less money. He has a ridiculous 85 CON and good LE. Just because of Tampa's strength on defense, his contributions should not be diminished. He was in the top 20 in TA and 11th in TA-GA ratio. He also fits perfectly in to Tampa's system.

I am going to side with my arbitrator and propose that Jan Hejda be awarded a 4 year contract at 2.4M per. His play has warranted a raise and his high CON and solid LE make him a very valuable part of any contending team.

Justin, you can accept/reject the Hejda ruling at 4 years at 2.4M per.

Stamkos said no to 4.5m/6yrs. Maybe try it with a NTC? Also Tokarski should prob be offered w/e contract he gets so he doesn't get released into UFA before you input the ATL trade. Will you be editing the actual salary #'s after, or are we rounding up/down? i.e Stamkos/Stoa

Editing the actual.

Stamkos was offered a NTC, was he not? I have no way of checking, but I'm pretty sure that I included the NTC.

Perhaps, like Hodgson, he just didn't want to accept a deal with an NTC. I can add it after the fact, I guess. Though, really, if a guy doesn't want to be franchise tagged with a NTC, I shouldn't allow it. :)
