Tonight's recap, brought to you by one (or two) cold bottle(s) of Allagash White:

Three points for Iginla in a quiet win for the Pens over the Canucks
Erik Cole thumbs his nose at his former team and the Caps win it in the shootout, 2-1 over the Canes
Two goals for Blake Wheeler as the Devils win in Toronto, 4-3; two goals for Alex Semin as well
Another OT game in the OTT, but this time the Isles are victorious less than a minute into the extra frame
Leland Irving, CPA-for-hire, saves 20 as the Wings tax the Stars 5-2
Tampa cools the Sabres with a 5-3 win at home; Ben Bishop plays well!
Break Up The Panthers! after their 5-3 win over Columbus; Mike Ribeiro with three points
Ryan "I Heart Brad" Spooner with two goals for the Blues in their 4-1 win against the Predators
Calgary dominates to the tune of 53-14 in shots and 4-0 on the scoreboard over the Avalanche
Is there trouble in LA? Arizona wins handily 5-1, and two goals for Shane Doan
San Jose beats a possibly jet-lagged Boston team 3-1, while SCORING ON THE POWER PLAY

No suspensions; fixed Dallas AHL lines.

Hmmm 3 PP goals, all kinds of fighting ( there is a new sheriff in St Louis maybe) Lappy showing his first game back he gets noticed. Looks like my cpl of tweaks worked well for me, and on the road at that, which is my teams biggest damn problem. And the Wolves are ripping it up in the AHL Ully and Rankin with 11 points between them in just this game...gotta love it

Edit:
Spooner got 2 goals in a 4-1 win but was a minus 1.....WTF?

2014 5th round (128th overall) pick Connor Carrick makes his NHL debut, plays over 20 minutes with a David Shields injury. +3 with 2 shot blocks.

PP goals don't count towards +/-.

Minnesota still under the roster minimum.
After their trade, Chicago's over the cap (64,142,500).
Mihalik's still in the AHL.

Erik Christensen is once again in the negatives for fighting (-1).

Miikka Kiprusoff is down to a 78 POT.

And you had me worried when my little ditty found a whole lot of problems with the players file but apparently some draft eligibles have been added.

Mihalik's still in the AHL.
Vik, Mihalik was in the NHL and then he was re-assigned to the AHL once again, after he spent 1 full day with the Dallas Stars.

Damn, when was the last time this team managed to dominate like that? I expected to have 10 of these games by now, not 1 or 2.

Oh and yes, a powerplay goal was scored... on 7 attempts. Still not impressed.

Cool but we should've scored more.

Found problems with, or just changes to the file?

I think you actually promoted and demoted him within the same sim because I remember Bubbles posting that you were over the cap even though you weren't in the most recent file and ended up not being over in the subsequent file. He hasn't been up for a sim recently that I've seen. I know he was placed on waivers again so maybe that restarts the week he's allowed down. Have to leave that to the fellers in charge.

It found what it thought was problems but it was just the changes for the draft eligibles.

Unless I'm wrong, there is nothing that says Martin can't promote/demote Mihalik on the same day or whatever.
Hell, I don't even think there's anything about him having to call up Mihalik at all now that we've eliminated re-entry.
This looks wrong, we're all aware of that.

The new rule is going to solve this problem, at least for the rest of the season.

Just a note for everyone: the draft eligibles going into the file now are NOT complete: attributes, ceilings, POT and CON have not been done, and won't be for a while yet. I wanted to start getting guys into the file just because.

As for Mihalik -- he'll ride the elevator for a few more weeks, I'm sure, then no more.

So should we just ignore the one week rule until then? Or should he be getting put on waivers weekly?

Either way, I'm pretty sure Dallas will try anything to get rid of him before the new rule kicks in.
Is there a "one week" rule still anyway?!

The "one week" rule was never done away with, but it technically was a part of re-entry waivers. So...I guess for now we could eliminate the one week rule until the new rule kicks in, in January.

Guys, I'm a bit confused . . . what will that actually mean? That I will not be able to demote players to AHL who make more than 1,5 mil. per year or what? What will be that "new rule" you're talking about, please?

Ok, folks: we're announcing a rule change to counteract one of the issues that has arisen this season after the elimination of re-entry waivers. We previously used re-entry waivers as a way for GMs to get temporary cap relief by being able to demote players to the farm who made more than the AHL maximum. You could keep them there for a week, and they were exposed to waivers when they came back up to the pro team after that week. We eliminated re-entry waivers but kept the ability to demote high-salaried players to the AHL for a week. The committee believes that the rampant use of this loophole, if you will, has gotten out of hand and is contrary to the spirit of the original rule. The new rule is as follows:

No player on a regular (non-ELC) contract making over 1.5M can be demoted to the farm. This rule will start on the day after the conclusion of the World Junior Championships (so, early January; exact date TBA, depending on when EHM creates the tournament). This gives GMs about six weeks to figure out what to do with the guys currently on the AHL yo-yo.

For next season, we are already discussing moving closer to the NHL version of this rule, where you can demote high salaried players to the farm, but only get a certain amount of cap relief, rather than the entire contract like we currently have it.
