Filippi is a good addition for any team in the league but I need to clear some cap space for Spezza, Backes and Doughty extensions. And I make some room for my young guns in Binghampton as well.

I was looking to add some piece to my offense and Filippi can play for Dallas for a long while. Has a good shot and nice hitting ability, so he fits the Stars style of play very well. Although, I'm giving away 3rd rnd pick + Arkhip Nekolenko, trade sounds good to me, because I was considering Nekolenko to be somewhere around no. 14, 15 forward in my depth chart and I don't believe I would draft much better player via that pick so I perceive this trade to be quantity for quality and this time, I'm happy to be on the "quality" side.
