VAN / PHX

I know I said I wasn't making any more trades during the season, but:

Vancouver receives:

2014 BOS 1st round pick
2014 PHX 1st round pick
2015 PHX 1st round pick
G Ilya Bryzgalov (81)
C/L Joseph Labate (80)
L/R Tyler Hill (92)

Phoenix receives:

G Roberto Luongo (82)

My love/hate relationship for Ilya Bryzgalov has turned into one of pure hate. He's had a good run overall for Phoenix but saying he's been a disappointment this season would be an understatement. Roberto Luongo is arguably the top goalie in the league, and with Vancouver beginning a rebuilding effort I had to take a shot. After some negotiation, Jason and I were able to hammer out the deal above. I'm not a fan of trading 1st rounders but my Coyotes are a pretty young team with a still-decent assortment of future prospects, so I'm confident the loss of the picks isn't going to leave me with any long-term holes. Labate's on his way to becoming a solid and consistent H&G centre with some offensive upside, and Hill could be an absolute monster if he boosts all the way. Both were in my long-term plans, but the only alternative to sending both of them would have been giving up a particular top-six forward, and making a trade that fills one hole while creating another when I'm trying to win now is not the best strategy. Bryzgalov was included primarily to offset Luongo's salary as this trade couldn't really happen without some money going the other way, and Vancouver now happens to be short a starting goalie, so that works out nicely. Perhaps a change of scenery will do Ilya some good.

Thanks very much for the deal, Jason. It's a pleasure doing business with you.

EDIT: added consistency attributes long after the fact because it was bugging me for some reason :P

As much as I didn't want to see Luongo go to a conference, much less division rival. They approached me with an offer I couldn't say no to.

Bryzgalov was more of a salary dump, though he'll play up until someone asks about him or until I get fed up with him :)

Hill is a risk worth taking, I have to hope he boosts, but if he does....woo.

Labate is someone I've been bugging Parker about in the past and finally landed. He's not Elsner, but he should contribute sooner rather than later.

The 3 picks were the selling point, I wanted one of his top 6 forwards or not take back Bryzgalov, and these were offered to me instead.

Assuming this goes through, this will solidify my outlook on the future.

Parker gets a game changing goalie. I wish Luongo nothing but the best and hope he can lead the Coyotes into the playoffs, at least until I start sneaking in there :)

Thank you for the deal Parker and best of luck.

Sorry this hasn't been ruled on yet. I've got zero free time this weekend. I've been home, not sleeping, for maybe an hour and 10 minutes. And I'm about to leave and be gone until about 9 p.m.

Seriously?

Your cap number with other transactions has already been posted. If you can't figure it out with this deal factored in, that's not my problem.

Since you've got so much free time to sit around and wait on the ruling for this deal, figure out your own fucking cap number.

Only two roster players are being moved so it's not too complex. Vancouver and Phoenix each have 61 games remaining (74.4%). Vancouver will owe Bryzgalov $3,348,000 for the rest of the season, and Phoenix will owe Luongo $3,965,520. In simple terms, this trade gives Vancouver $617,520 of additional cap space for the remainder of the season.

Note that the 74.4% of schedule remaining is rounded to the nearest tenth, so the numbers aren't quite accurate down to the penny. In case anyone actually gives a shit about that.

Ugh dude, if you'd put that emoticon in the first post you probably could've shaved a few points off Adam's blood pressure...

Making it obvious that it's sarcasm takes away from the point, no?

Yeah but clarity is more important than style. :P

Approved.

Parker pays a huge price to upgrade in net and Vancouver gets some depth and assets.
