To St. Louis: Dougie Hamilton (80)

This was a pretty smooth deal to make for us as it seemed to suit both of our needs. I've been wanting to acquire Erik Johnson for a while now and this was the perfect opportunity as St. Louis has decided to build for the future. Dougie will provide St. Louis with a defenseman similar to EJ in the near future but with much more offensive upside. With Ryan Whitney, Drew Doughty and Zdeno Chara (and Dennis Wideman.. and Kevin Klein too I guess) I don't really need another big shot from the point. Johnson also gives me another guy who can help the PK and just be a reliable top four guy.

This trade gets me better on DEF. Hamilton is more offensive d man and that is what we are lacking. EJ is at a standstill from what i can see and Hamilton will serve the Blues alot better. Great deal and good luck Avs
