San Jose Sharks - Edmonton Oilers

To the Oilers:

Dany Heatley (84)

To the Sharks:

Andrew Cogliano (71)

Confirmed. I have a lot of raises due and Heatley's salary is going to be tough to hold on to. While I appreciate Heatley's guaranteed 40 goals, PPG scoring and Cup win, I figure Cogliano can replace about 25g/60p of that at a ~3 million discount. Plus, contract extension talks with Heatley were getting a little heated (ha ha), so he wasn't going to be back for the 2014 season either way - now is the best time to maximize the return.

Best of luck to Heater and Edmonton.

Agreed.

High risk-High reward. Somewhere, Jordan Eberle is creaming his Bauer jock shorts.
I'm trying to build a playoff team and I have the cap space so this is a risk I'm willing to take. If things don't pan out, Heatley's rights will be made available. Simple as that.

Thanks Dan!

Approved.

Dan gives a heavy sigh and trades one of his core pieces to ensure cap flexibility. Although he won't produce like ol' Dany, Cogliano is a good replacement. Edmonton is gearing up to swing for the fences.

Entered.

Trade entered as Heatley for Robert Mayer. Mayer placed back in EDM's farm, Cogliano placed on SJ.
