Boston posts an impressive win over the Sabres in Buffalo. Brock Nelson has a solid night as he factors in on all three Panthers tallies. Montreal comes back with two goals in the third, but fall short of the second point in the shootout.

The new-look Jackets shutout the Avs; while the Stars rip off five unanswered scores to down the Wings.

Big W! Montreal is a team to beat now.

Brad Stuart has been a monster since his acquisition from Columbus!

I'll take the point. Nice timing from Berglund to end the 32 game goal drought. Backes 10 game point streak is finito. Toronto tomorrow night.

Epic fail in the shootout. We're not very good in those.

Way too many penalties from the boys, but the PK goes 8/8, even without Gudbranson. Rinne throws up a blank. The key guys score the goals. First NHL point for Connor Murphy. Time to get on a streak.

hope you are still not entertaining thoughts of catching da Hawks like i read in your article in the paper. that has been on our proverbial bulletin board all week... ask SJ how much they appreciate you giving us that motivation.

We still play three times. That's the six points I'd need to close the gap, but I highly doubt I'd win all three.

I'd like home ice, but I don't expect to get it. My goal at that point is to avoid playing SJ/LA/PHX in the first round. I'd rather play you or CGY and take my chances. I'm one point back of 5th and LA has a ton of injuries. I've gotta be careful.

I still think you're the team to beat.

I like that my new look 3rd line put Iggy and the boys -1 while scoring the GTG.

Kuznetsov: 27 GP, 13 G, 11 A, 24 points, -7
Backes: 20 GP, 12 G, 14 A, 26 points, +13

Not a bad trade.

Once Kartayev and Ollie E-L come back, we'll see who's the team to beat. :D

for the record I was just talking about the East.

You've staked claim to the West, no doubt about it.

Nah, if anything the West is pwned by the Pacific Division trio of giants. SJ has almost caught up and LA probably would too if half their roster wasn't injured. Even Chicago and Calgary are starting to look pretty threatening.

You do have a legitmate claim to the East, but so do Carolina, Washington, and Pittsburgh. Lots of competition in both conferences these days!
