Langkow is a solid top 6 forward, but was not in long term plans. Getting Orpik will strengthen an already extremely consistent defensive core. Re-acquiring a Cup winner from our 2010 run was a bonus, good luck Bern.

I know I just traded Berglund for Girardi, but it was a mistake because I had Peter Holland to center my 3rd line (he did awful in my test sim). Langkow is a definite upgrade and brings that leadership Orpik has. Gorges will fill the gap on D untill Ranger comes back.

Justin would like some depth and grit on the defensive end beyond the future top pairing of Murray and Fowler. Bern was apparently uncomfortable with Peter Holland on a third line. Paul Ranger is also expected to return later this season.
