LAK - DET

to DET : Corey Schneider (64) + Kyle Clifford (75) + Steve Sullivan (76) rights
to LAK : 2nd 2012 (ANA) + Justin Abdelkader (74)
Accepted.
With the Mason trade, Schneider have lost his starting job. A trade was inevitable.
I d'ont have a lot of picks, so to get a 2nd rd pick(40) it very good to me and Abdelkader add some depth up front.

Goaltending help is on the way. Toskala was so bad that I kept playing my #3 goaltender from AHL. We have ample room for Sullivan (if we are able to sign him) and he will bring offense to second or 3rd line. Clifford adds depth to AHL
We give up a round 2 which might never see NHL and a good young player in Abdelwhatever in order to get a good goaltender
We accept

Technically, Schneider's rights cannot be traded. Rule 9D1 states that players under the age of 28 cannot have their rights traded. So, in this instance, what we will do is have the Schneider arbitration hearing bumped up and LA and Detroit can complete a sign-and-trade. LA will agree to the terms, Schneider will be signed, and then he can be traded to Detroit at the salary set by the arbitration process.
This is, of course, pending Committee approval of the trade, I trust wanted to post that if the trade is approved, it will not be processed until Schneider has signed a new contract.

Sounds like a good plan.
The only thing is I would like to offer a contract to Sullivan before he becomes FA

You're getting Sullivan's rights. You'll have time to offer him a contract.

Just to update this, the Schneider arbitration is scheduled for Wednesday through Sunday.
However, if nobody objects, we can just give Schneider another year at 4.25M and process this trade and it'll give my agents one less case to worry about.

Doesn't he have a team option at $4.25M anyway?

Perhaps. I didn't list him in the list I manually did. Fail on my part.

Approved.
Will just trade Schneider manually in the file and accept his TO.
