To Calgary
L Alex Tanguay [70]
C Jesse Winchester [61]

To Dallas
R Luca Caputi [61]
D John Negrin [60]

Although this deal was agreed first, it actually fits rather nicely with the other one - I deal Steve Bernier away and immediately replace him with Luca Caputi, the aforementioned "carbon copy". Doesn't save me a huge amount, but Tanguay wasn't in my plans going forward. Negrin, with his ungodly endurance, might be in trouble if the league decides cyborgs are technically illegal but until then can chew up the minutes like the proverbial maternal fornicator; meanwhile I have high hopes for Caputi because he's a heavy hitter and if he behaves, might get to ride shotgun with Nathan Horton. In this Wild West metaphor, FYI, Horton is driving the cart, likely centreman James Neal is the dutiful wife in back taking care of the kids and Kevin Bieksa and John Negrin are...I dunno, the horses? Yeah.

I needed a center on my fourth line cause either of Boyd orGlencross could fill that role, I hope Winchester can.
I also needed a top line winger who'd shown he could put up numbers and Alex Tanguay's lead his team in scoring last year.

Ryan Murphy can take Negrin's spot this year and I think I needed a center mre than a winger on that messy fourth line.

Basically sending my two lowest offensive players to get Tanguay and a good 4th line center.

It pleases me therefor I accept this trade.

Approved.

Committee rationale: Calgary needs offense and he's paying a premium to get it here. Caputi and Negrin both bring a lot of defense with average consistencies. Winchester is a dime-a-dozen player except for his 87 FA. Considering that Winchester won't be a negative for Calgary, the fact that Tanguay should be a huge positive gives this trade equal enough value to approve, although we do like one side of the deal a little more than the other.
