Dallas Contract Offers

I figured I'd best start a new thread to ask this question. Ahead of trying to resign people, I've been reading the rulebook and I want to clarify I've understood things properly. For Brandon Dubinsky...
I refer to the "players aged 27 and under section", as he's 26. His OF/DF average is 73 and he's currently making 2.3 million, so he will get a 25% increase, taking that to 2.875 million - those aren't the exact figures, but for the sake for clarification I've simplified it. Because his OF is more than ten points greater than his DF, he'll also receive the 350k for being an offensive specialist - however, because his PE and HI are below 65, he'll also receive a 100k deduction for each stat, meaning the total bonus of only 150k. That takes the final salary to $3.025 million.
Am I correct, then, in thinking that I cannot offer him a salary below that figure?

You are almost correct. We use the current file or the
fastsim file, whichever is higher, to calculate contracts. Dubinsky actually gets up to 82 OF 67 DF in the fastsim, for an average of 74.5.
So, that makes his salary:
Current base: 2,323,332
Base salary increase: 1,453,083 (74.5 OF+DF avg, between two levels in chart, take midpoint / 2, add to lower base): (72-74 25% inc = 2,904,165; 75-76 100% inc = 4,646,664) = 3,776,415 (871,250 (midpoint) + 2,905,165 (lower base))
Bonuses/devaluations: 350k off spec, -200k HI, PE
New salary: $3,926,415

OK. So. I'll spare you the frustrated scream at whoever put me in this hellish cap situation and...
Brandon Dubinsky
$4 million salary (slightly higher than default, but I have a horrible OCD-like thing about numbers. 4,000,000 is nice and neat and, frankly, if I'm in a position where I have to worry about 100k in cap room, I've done something horribly wrong)
$800k bonus (should be default)
3 years, team option
Alex Plante
$1.65 million salary*
$300k bonus
3 years, team option
Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson, Mathieu Carle
Both have PO and TO in their contract. I forget which comes first in the EHM timeline but, if either one does not pick up their player option, use the team option on them.

PJ Axelsson
Walking
Farmhands
Keep the lot of them on. Default salary, max years, two-way option with one exception - Michael Neal is to get default salary with two-way if he'll accept it, but three years with a team option.

Bump. This all still needs inputting.

Haven't entered any contracts.
Here's the Paajarvi calculation. As you know, we've eliminated all options from ELCs.
MPS: 2.975M (2.625 base + 350k off spec + 100k SK - 100k CH)
I assume your OCD would like me to make this 3M even?
Plante is correct at 1.65.
As far as farmhands, some will need a 25% raise. Some won't.

I did not know that, as it happens. But yes, 3M even works for me. Ah, my broken numerical mind.

Paajarvi-Svensson falls under the newly administered "Tyler Myers Rule".
Salary is now 3.15M. Sorry, Sean. At least it's still, sort of, a nice number.
3.15M (2.8 base + 350k off spec + 100k SK - 100k CH)
Contracts offered.

It's acceptably different to 3m dead that I'm OK with it. I assume the offered deal was for 4 years?

I believe so. The only other thing I'd have done was 3 + TO, which is basically 4 anyway since you'll definitely accept it.

What's that? Welcome to the team, Mickey Blue Eyes? HELL YEAH. Please offer MIKHAIL GODDAMN GRIGORENKO the standard ELC: $2.5m salary, whatever bonus the game suggested, maximum contract duration.
I'll also take Sam Kurker home while I'm at it. His base contract should be $1.75m salary, with suggested bonus and maximum contract duration, but because I'm intended to dump him with the Texas Stars until he's good and ready, I think I need a two-way option on that as well. I am allowed to do that, right? Can't shake the feeling that that's not a rule in this league.
Also...vaguely contract-related, am I still able to buy out Marty Turco at the 20% if he accepts his player option?

Also, as a POT booster, GET QUENTIN SHORE SIGNED NOW! $900k salary, maximum term.
Actually, that's a point. When the rulebook says "all POT boosters get a mandatory 250k bonus to their cap slot", is that if they boost or just if they have the chance to boost? If the latter, stick with $900k. If the former, tack on that extra $250k and make it $1.15m.

The bonus takes effect immediately, regardless of whether the player boosts or not. On the bright side, if he doesn't boost, he likely doesn't spend much time on an NHL roster so his salary isn't that important.

Two things:
1. Underage players don't count against the AHL cap, therefore he doesn't have to be below the AHL maximum.
2. All ELCs include a two-way, but it's irrelevant because players under 25 don't have to clear waivers.
Also...vaguely contract-related, am I still able to buy out Marty Turco at the 20% if he accepts his player option?
You didn't sign him to the PO, so yes.

Plante contract adjusted to 1.65M.

So yes. Contracts going to the draftees are as follows:
Mikhail Grigorenko: $2.5m salary, maximum bonus, four year contract
Samuel Kurker: $1.75m salary, maximum bonus, four year contract
Quentin Shore: $900k salary, maximum bonus, four year you're starting to see a pattern here
Paul Dejersey: No contract. Don't want to risk him dropping in potential.
Jake Dotchin, Adam Pelech: Ditto. Both going back to juniors.

ELCs are max three years.
But, yes, I see the pattern.

All ELCs offered.
Kurker to be adjusted to 1.75M.
Shore to be adjusted to 1.15M.

Happy 20th birthday to Paul Dejersey! His present? A standard maximum-length ELC, with whatever bonus he demands from me! Ho ho ho!
A secondary thought to add onto this: Would any of the staff object if I started signing guys with a year to go to extensions now? Mike Ribeiro's exempt from this because he's too old for the standard process and is going to arbitration, but if I get Nathan Horton locked down early it saves everybody some work later on in the year. What say you?

The way that we currently do contracts, with the OF + DF formula, needs to have a level playing field. So, they all need to be done at one time. That said, there could be some re-evaluation of that because of how we use the fastsim file and, in some cases, that makes the present attributes irrelevant.
For now, my answer is no, for the simple fact that I don't know if his OF/DF will fluctuate from this point and the whole point of a week or two-long window is to keep that playing field level.
But it's something I'll be considered, especially in cases where the fastsim is higher anyway. I also don't do the fastsim until around January.

Dejersey ELC offered.
