5.27M cap hit isn't bad at all for his production. If he's happy and healthy. Has to be put in the exact scenario though because he's a whiny bitch.

The last 4 years of that deal ('18-19 through '21-22) only pay him 12M total.

Needs to be in a warm climate on a good team. Not sure who has that kind of cap space.

Nashville's got a ton of cap room, but, they're not the Jeff Carter kind of fit. Sharks won't rock the boat with him.

LA makes the most sense. For Penner + Bernier + maybe a guy like Rob Scuderi. That gives them 4.65M in cap room for '12-13 and '13-14. Not sure the Jackets would take Scuderi, maybe if LA added a pick. But, you'd keep Carter happy playing him with Dustin Brown or move him to wing to play with Kopitar/Richards.

Jackets possibly add one of their rental players like Curtis Sanford (to back up Quick).

RDS reporting that Rick Nash is on the trade block. Howson declined comment.

I don't even understand what the rush is, Carter's NTC isn't in effect anymore and his stock is worth half of what it was a year ago.

It's just an idea. Might require a 1st round pick too. Not like it's set in stone.

I'd think a starting goaltender for the next 5-6 years is worth it. Bernier gives the Jackets something they desperately need.

Probably Carter. Although being in Lewiston, I'll have to give a shout to Jonathan Bernier. And I hope JR trades Ruuttu, lets the team wallow the rest of the season, and gets a top-4 pick. (And you can always try to re-sign Tuomo this summer.)
