State of EHEC Address

Clearly, it has been a tumultuous couple of weeks for all of us here in EHEC. Starting with me saying in the TB/NJ trade thread that EHEC was not fun for me anymore to the latest blow-up with the mock trade posting and everything that happened from it.
First and foremost, I want to clarify my position on the league not being fun. I don't think I took in to consideration what a comment like that might lead to. I was speaking purely from emotion and the frustration I was experiencing. Most of you know me to be a man of my word and somebody who still has a chip on my shoulder from events that happened seven years ago. Even on my worst day as EHEC Commissioner, I wouldn't trade this league for anything or compromise the friendships I have made or enhanced with all of you. My work here is not done and hopefully will never be done. As long as all of you are here, so am I.
Second, I do have an announcement to make this evening. Ryan will be returning to the Committee. He will assume the Monday/Friday sims and be the presence that the Committee has lacked since he stepped down. By no means is that a slight on Quinn or Tommy, but the fact that a league co-founder and very close personal friend of mine will take some of the pressure off of my shoulders is going to re-energize my commitment to EHEC. I'm sure Ryan will have something to say, but I have full confidence in his abilities in trade analysis, simulation, and any other assistance I ask for from him.
At the time that we began the league, Tommy was not a GM. While Quinn built our magnificent website and has been a friend of mine for a while, his schedule and unavailability were hurting the league. He was understanding of my position and agreed with me that it was hard to function as a proper Committee with one-third of our legs chopped off. I think, on some level, some of you may have questioned the legitimacy of my Committee selections and perhaps even disagreed with them. To date, I think Quinn and Tommy have done what I have asked of them and been valuable parts of the league. Ryan's inclusion back into the fold as a Committee member provides a stronger foundation.
Third, this NZT topic needs to be formally addressed. Everybody has an opinion on it and so we will vote on it. I will provide the choices and everyone will PM their response to me, since I can't figure out how to keep GMs from changing their votes. That thread will be posted tomorrow.
I want to elaborate on something that I mentioned in the trade forum. I mentioned that I thought that one of the issues plaguing the league was boredom. I still firmly believe that is part of the problem. GMs may still discuss trade talks occasionally, but for the most part, guys just want to stand pat and see how things shake out and that doesn't provide for a lot of enjoyment.
I plan to begin doing small nightly contests. There will be criteria for participation and small rewards will be used as prizes. They will range from CON boosts to prospects to the creation of new staff members to ceiling raises to anything else I see fit. By no means will they be earth-shattering rewards, but something to use an incentive for posting and contributing to the forums.
Finally, tonight, I want to address the issue of the posting of the same pictures in every thread. They are like the joke that was old when it was first told and just continues to get worse. They really don't add much to the forums except make the pages take longer to load. I don't mind if you occasionally post some sort of picture and change it up, or post some ludicrous video (no, I don't mean What's Your Fantasy, Number One Spot, or Move Bitch). But at least keep it original. There are plenty of hilarious things on the internet just waiting to be shared. Some of them might even create conversation. Charles Barkley and Barack Obama are neither hilarious nor conversational.
If I were the only one who gave a shit, I could deal with it. But I'm not the only one. I ask that all of you respect that request.
In closing, Ryan, welcome back to the Committee. To the rest of you, use this as your thread to voice any problems you would like the league to look at and please, let's put the bullshit behind us and get back to business as usual.
