Reasoning: I couldn't let the Eastern Conference have all the fun! I feel like I'm torching a store to claim the insurance money ala Goodfella's. I guess there is the school of thought that a player like St. Louis playing his whole career in TB, winning two Cups he should retire with the team and have a nice happy ending. Imo, this is a business. Martin will be long into the twilight of his career when we become a Cup contender again. He serves no purpose for my team, so he has to go.
Good luck St. Louis (both the team and Martin).

I needed a quality top 6 forward to take some pressure off of Marian Gaborik's shoulders and try and help Brad Boyes find his game back...hope St.Louis is that guy. He also brings experience and leadership to my team.
I was hesitant to let Jake Allen go as I had plans to have him as a back-up to Lehtonen this season. Sucks to lose my 1st rounder again this season but I decided to use it to get help immediately instead of a prospect. As far as Souray goes, he's been very helpful and the Blues are thankful for his service, but his 5.4M contract is too much for a 5th defenseman.
Last but not least, bringing St.Louis to St.Louis is very cool.
