Reasoning: Missed out on adding Barker as my fourth defensemen and not totally sure I want to put Girardi in that position. Rafalski is a very nice veteran presence for at least one season and hopefully more. It also gives me the option to move Girardi if the opportunity arises. For me Ellington/Cole is a wash assuming Cole doesn't hit that playmaking ceiling. With Rafalski in the fold as well Cole was probably not going to see top 4 minutes.

Rafalski 6M is just too high for my team, i know i'll miss him, but he doesn't play almost all last years due to an injury and Hickey has done a good job to replace Rafalski. Ellington wasn't fit anymore in my plan. Added prospect Ian Cole to fill the 6-7th defenseman hole for next years and maybe 4-5 in years to come. Happy to grab a 2nd pick 2011, the Kings need some depth rigth now at some position and with only a 2nd pick and 5th pick in this year draft, draft pick was a need.
