EHEC Draft 2011

While I wait to get things in order to announce rule changes, I guess I can take care of this bit of business.
Just like last year, I will make an EHEC home page CoverItLive chat for the NHL Entry Draft. It'll be on Friday night, running along with the draft and will probably run close to midnight or 1 am. I hope all of you guys can make it. It's good for my morale running the league and good for activity.
As for our draft, our draft will start at 12 pm EST on Saturday June 25. I've been asked if we could do some things live with the draft, but I really don't know how that would play out. If I get enough feedback that the top 10 or 15 will be around, then I'd be on board with the idea.
I'll list everything else in bullet points since most of my posts are too long.
- I am drafting for Minnesota, Calgary and Ottawa for the time being. I will draft in the team's best interest, not just BPA. May go top CSB by position they most need. In the meantime, I'll make fhockey posts and have you guys help recruit replacements. They've all ignored emails and have not been active on the boards for over a month. You don't have time for me, I don't have time for you.
- Like last year, I will be giving prizes out for doing a draft review. Unlike last year, I will be giving out prizes for doing a draft/offseason preview also. Prizes will remain unannounced. I will announce preview prizes at the completion of the draft and review prizes at a date TBD after the draft. I suggest you take the time to do a preview and a review. Good for the site, not a lot of effort, and makes me happy. Making me happy is good. Special added prizes for the winner who writes the best and most informative piece because it will go on the main page and you'll get a little extra for the superior effort.
- We will abide by the time limits posted in Section 13 of the Rulebook. 12 hrs for rounds 1 & 2, 8 hrs for 3 & 4, 6 hrs for 5, 6, & 7. Send shortlists of who you want, please. I like that the draft takes up a bulk of the offseason, but hate how irritated GMs get with how long it takes. If you don't think you can make your pick, please send a list of guys or just shoot me, Tommy, or Quinn a PM that says you want the best player available or top real-life CSB, or best D/F available. Whatever it is.
- The draft class is done almost two full weeks before the draft. You have no excuse for not scouting. If you need a baseline of guys around your pick, just Google Search NHL CSB and look around the rankings where your pick is. Not saying that the entire draft follows the rankings, but it can help you create a short list.
- Check the draft order for each round of the Entry Draft. Make sure that your picks are right.
- The file will be stopped the day before the EHEC Draft. Then I have to manually draft to remove the draft class and then go back through and edit the picks in players.ehm. This is because EHM doesn't have the same draft order we do.
- Please be familiar with the new draft slotting system in Section 5C of the Rulebook. Also, remember the surcharge of $250,000 for drafting a booster, and another $250,000 for each POT boost. The last part isn't in the Rulebook, but was posted.
I'm sure I'll think of more as we go along, but, for now, this will be the official pre-draft chatter thread.
