CHI reasoning: pretty simple; i never felt i could rely on the two-headed monster that was Niemi / Pavlec last year. i felt their up-n-down play cost me possible home ice at least in one round, and they certainly didn't give me enough to win a game in the playoffs. hate having to lose that #1, but it is the price i pay to upgrade. thanks MTL for good dealin' IMO.

Confirmed. I quite like Halak, which is why I hung onto him for all this time, but he's not getting the starts I think he deserves. Hopefully going to CHI he can thrive in the role of a #1. The main focus of this deal for me is obviously the first round pick in this draft. Niemi is an average back-up, which is fine because Carey Price shoulders the bulk of the load anyway. Thanks Femur.
