I probably was not going to resign Doughty, so I'm happy to get a return on him and find him a nice new home.

Adding an elite defensemen who should be an excellent partner to a top pair Devils backend, to play alongside Cale Makar. Doughty instantly drastically improves both offense and defense. Especially on this offensively focused team, stacked with high offense forwards, he should be a nice addition without spending too much of future capital. This draft is not very deep and the Devils will have a lot of cap space so no problem.
