Pittsburgh agrees. Kessel and Suter have been great for us this year, and Suter may continue to be a top defenseman while Sharp will be gone soon, but with an eye towards the future it makes sense to take the hit to add a promising prospect in Kravtsov and create some salary flexibility beyond this season.

NYR Agrees. I got younger this year and the team has responded. We're having a career year. Sharp has been average and Kessel can pick up that pace. Suter's contract isn't perfect, but he's playing amazingly well on a struggling team and I'm excited to see what he can do with my group. I was aggressively looking to get my D better, and Pittsburgh was able to take back the salary. Kravtsov is the piece they need that I can part with to add these pieces now.
